Things are going wonderful at THE OASIS CENTER in Bacalar, Mexico. Preparations are now being made for VBS 2010. 2010 will be our greatest year! It seems almost unbelievable that this is the ninth year for our VBS program in the Mayan jungle area of southern Mexico. The program has reached thousands of precious Mayan Indian children in the remote villages.

I am reminded of when we began coming to the Mayan villages. We were going from village to village across the jungle preaching in the remote churches. Suddenly I began to realize that at every village we visited, when I gave an altar call,100 percent of the children responded for Salvation. At one particular village, I knew three of the children were the pastors children. I told the pastor that I had never seen 100 percent of the children attending our meetings to come for Salvation. I asked if the children understood what we were saying, or is there a breakdown in communication because of the language.

Tears began to flow down his face, he said, "yes they understand what you are saying, we thought because they come to church they were okay. We never realized they needed to have the plan of Salvation explained and someone pray with them."

I was shocked! I knew immediately this had to change. These children need to ask and receive Jesus into their precious little hearts. But how can we reach these little ones. In the area there are over 150 remote villages. We cannot go to all the villages.

God gave us a plan to reach these children. It started by bringing to us the pastors and ones from each church that was interested in working with children, train them for VBS in their church. Then train them how to not only have a VBS during the summer, but how to minister to the children all year. That is when THE OASIS CENTER was birthed. God spoke to our friends in New York to purchase for us this beautiful piece of property in Bacalar. Then numerous others heard from God to help with finances for construction.

You, our partners have helped made the VBS program successful by your financial investments and praying for us. The "ADOPT A VILLAGE PROGRAM" has helped make it possible to train the workers and provide all their resources. If the resources were available in their village (which they are not) the people do not have the finances to purchase them.

We began today purchasing supplies for the villages. We will provide VBS for 110 villages this summer. Resources for 110 churches is a lot of resources! We will begin packaging the resources in a few days for distribution in May.
